भारत के पहली बार चेस ओलिंपियाड (FIDE Online Chess Olympiad) जीतने पर पीएम नरेंद्र मोदी ने ट्वीट कर टीम को बधाई दी है। प्रधानमंत्री ने लिखा, ‘ऑनलाइन चेस ओलिंपियाड जीतने के लिए हमारे शतरंज खिलाड़ियों को बधाई। उनकी कड़ी मेहनत और समर्पण सराहनीय है। उनकी सफलता निश्चित तौर पर अन्य शतरंज खिलाड़ियों को प्रेरणा देगी।’ प्रधानमंत्री यहीं नहीं रुके उन्होंिने लगे हाथ रूस को भी बधाई दी है। उन्होंंने आगे कहा, ‘मैं रूस की टीम को भी बधाई देना चाहूंगा।’
केंद्रीय वित्तंमंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने कहा, भारत और रूस दोनों को बधाई… पूर्व विश्वन चैंपियन और टीम सदस्य विश्वरनाथन आनंद ने कहा, हम चैंपियन हैं, रूस को भी बधाई।’ युवा एवं खेल मामलों के राज्यामंत्री किरेन रिजिजू ने कहा कि मैं भारतीय टीम को बधाई देता हूं जिसने @FIDE_chess ऑनलाइन शतरंज ओलंपियाड में स्वर्ण जीता। भारत को रूस के साथ संयुक्त विजेता घोषित किया गया। सभी खिलाड़ियों को मेरी हार्दिक शुभकामनाएं… पूर्व राजदूत सैयद अकबरुद्दीन ने बधाई देते हुए लिखा… भारत और रूस पहली बार ऑनलाइन शतरंज ओलंपियाड के संयुक्त विजेता घोषित किए गए। सचिन तेंदुलकर ने कहा, भारतीय खेलों के लिए यह बेहद शानदार हफ्ता रहा। राष्ट्रीाय खेल दिवस मनाए जाने के एक दिन बाद ही हमारी शतरंज टीम संयुक्त चैंपियन बनकर देश को खुशियों से नवाजा है। बता दें कि भारत ने रविवार को पहली बार शतरंज ओलंपियाड जीतकर इतिहास रच दिया। भारत को फाइनल मुकाबले में रूस के साथ संयुक्त विजेता घोषिषत किया गया। भारत ने पहली बार इस ओलंपियाड में स्वर्ण जीता है, जबकि रूस ने इसे 24 बार (18 बार सोवियत संघ) जीता है। फाइनल में उस वक्त अजीबोगरीब स्थिति हो गई जब भारतीय टीम के सदस्य निहाल सरीन और दिव्या देशमुख का इंटरनेट कनेक्शन चला गया। शतरंज ओलंपियाड के फाइनल में दूसरे राउंड में ऐसा हुआ, जिसके बाद भारत ने आधिकारिक अपील की। इसकी जांच के बाद फिडे अध्यक्ष आर्केडी ड्वोरकोविक ने दोनों टीमों को ही स्वर्ण पदक देने का फैसला किया।
