IPL 2020 के 38वें मैच में शिखर धवन ने आईपीएल में वो करके दिखाया, जो आजतक कोई दूसरा बल्लेबाज नहीं कर सका है। धवन ने आईपीएल में लगातार दो सेंचरी लगाने का खास रिकॉर्ड अपने नाम किया, उनसे पहले किसी भी बल्लेबाज ने ऐसा नहीं किया है। पंजाब के खिलाफ खेले मैच में धवन ने 61 गेंदों में 106 रनों की ताबड़तोड़ पारी खेली और टीम को एक सम्मानजनक स्कोर तक पहुंचाया। उनकी इस शानदार पारी के लिए उन्हें मैन ऑफ द मैच चुना गया। प्वॉइंट टेबल की स्थितियां हर मैच के साथ बदल रही हैं। वहीं ऑरेंज कैप और पर्पल कैप में भी आए बदलाव देखने को मिल रहे हैं। इस सीजन की शुरुआत से किंग्स इलेवन पंजाब भले ही प्वॉइंट टेबल में नीचे रही हो, लेकिन इसके दो खिलाड़ी ऑरेंज कैप की रेस में लगातार टॉप पर बने रहे।
पंजाब के कप्तान केएल राहुल और सलामी बल्लेबाज मयंक अग्रवाल सबसे ज्यादा रन बनाने वाले खिलाड़ियों की रेस में आगे चल रहे हैं, लेकिन दिल्ली कैपिटल्स के ओपनर शिखर धवन ने बैक टू बैक दो शतक जड़कर राहुल को चैलेंज दे दिया है। केएल राहुल ने इस सीजन में 500 रनों का आंकड़ा भी पार कर लिया था। इसके साथ ही वह आईपीएल के लगातार तीन सीजन में 500 का आंकड़ा पार करने वाले राहुल इकलौते बल्लेबाज बन गए। ऑरेंज कैप की रेस में दूसरे नंबर पर दिल्ली कैपिटल्स के लिए लगातार दूसरा शतक जड़ने वाले शिखर धवन पहुंच गए हैं. धवन ने 10 मैचों में 66.42 की औसत से 465 रन बनाए हैं। वहीं, पंजाब के ओपनर मयंक अग्रवाल इस लिस्ट में तीसरे नंबर पर आ गए हैं, जिनके 10 मैचों में 39.80 की औसत से 398 रन है। धवन ने बैक टू बैक शतक जड़कर मयंक को नीचे खिसका दिया है और अब केएल राहुल को टक्कर देने के लिए तैयार हैं।
